Agnigarh

Tourist attraction in TezpurAgnigarh hill is a popular tourist destination of Tezpur. It is the legendary romance site of Aniruddha, the grandson of Krishna and Princess Usha, daughter of King Bana and Aniruddha. King Bana was against their love and hence King Bana kept Usha captive on this hillock surrounded by fire. A beautiful garden with amazing sculptures, soft illumination and a waterfall welcome hundreds of tourists to this memorial of eternal romance. One can also have a spectacular view the mighty Brahmaputra River and the Kalia Bhomora Bridge from the hilltop.

Chitralekha Udyan

Chitralekha Udyan or the Cole park is a beautiful park located at the heart of city of Tezpur. It is Tourist attraction in Tezpurfamous  for its sprawling lush green gardens and recreational facilities  for children. The park was established by Mr. Cole, a Commissioner of Assam during the British rule established in 1906. Later, Mr. M.G.V.K Bhanu, the Deputy Commissioner of Tezpur renovated the park in 1996.Cole park is recently renamed as Chitralekha Udyan has been one of the must visit tourist destinations of the mythological and historical significant city of Tezpur.

The park is placed amidst numerous lakes, hillocks and terrains. The park also has a small lake where paddle boats, rowing and other water activities are held. The park also has a restaurant and open air stage where functions and recreational activities are held every year. It also contains historical structures like the sculptural remains of the famous Bamuni hills of the 9th and 10th century and the two massive ornamented stone pillars.

In the evening, the park presents a mesmerizing beautiful sight for the people, with the lights set on. The park is also a venue for important completions and exhibitions from a long time. During different festivals and occasions sports, competitions involving children are held every year to promote cultural and recreational spirit among the people.

Trimurty Udyan

Trimurty Udyan is a recreation center of Tezpur. The park is named after the three significant personalities of Assamese culture namely Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala ,Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha and Natasurjya Phani Sarmah. The park also statues of these three scions of Assamese culture erected in the Udyan.

Tezpur District Museum

The District Museum was established in 1986 and is an archaeological located in Tezpur. The museum has a wide collection of different modern and traditional artifacts and structures. It also houses a wide collection of traditional Assamese textiles. Apart from these other exhibits in the museum include stone sculptures, several stone inscriptions, coins and manuscripts.

Mahabhairab Temple

The Mahabhairab temple is a century old temple in Tezpur and houses one of the oldest and biggest shivalingas in the world. 

Kolia Bhomora BridgeTourist Places in Tezpur

Kolia Bhomora Bridge is a 3 km long bridge that connects Tezpur to south of Nagaon. The Kolia Bhomora Bridge is one of the longest bridges in India.

Nameri national park

The Nameri national park is located about 40 km away from Tezpur. The park is for Elephant, Tiger, rare species of birds and rare species of fish in Jia Bharali river.

Bura Chapori Wild Life Sanctuary

The Bura Chapori Wild Life Sanctuary is located about 40 kms from Tezpur. The sanctuary houses a wide variety mammals, birds and reptiles.

Bishnu Rabha Smriti Udyan

The Bishnu Rabha Smriti Udyan has been established in the memorial of Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha. The park is located on the banks of the River Brahmaputra adjacent to the Bharaibi temple. Bishnu Rabha Smriti Udyan was constructed by the middle son of Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha , Hemraj Rava as  tribute to his father. The park is established on the cremation spot of Bishnu Rabha. There are several works by the Kalaguru inscribed on the walls of the park. As is located on the banks of the Brahmaputra river, embankments have been built up to preserve and protect it.The park has become a major tourist site for the devotees of Bishnu Rabha who come to pay homage.
 

Padum Pukhuri

Tourist places in TezpurPadum pukhuri is one of the popular landmarks of Tezpur. Padum Pukhuri literally means a lotus-pond. The lake has a small island in the center, which is converted now into a park with a musical fountain. Padum Pukhuri is linked with the mainland through an iron foot-bridge. Several water recreation activities like rowboats, paddle boats and others are offered on hire for the tourist at Padum Pukhuri from time to time. Another attraction is a toy train which is a joy for the kids.

Tezpur does not have malls but is dotted with various local shopping centres. The most popular market in Tezpur is Chowk bazaar.
